men how many pair of shoes do you own? ladies? wondering who owns more shoes, men or women. no, i am not a richie type person. just have all this energy and need to expale it before treatment. ciao
I say Women own the most pair of shoes. From the high heals for a certain ocasion, to the flats, and their different pairs of shoes, even to the ones they only once. They all add up. No, I don't have so many. But my sister, for example, owns over 60 pairs of shoes. It's..interesting. Maybe I'm wrong, but even some female celebrities own from 200-500 pairs of shoes.
Ah Dolce has not met the no-nonsense, down-to-earth Northern chicks yet.
The Chick I have been with in the past 20 years is not one to have a zillion pairs of shoes, she has mainly some sensible ones and some nices ones.
Me, I have quite a few now because of my uniforms which each uniform has a separate pair of shoes. One dress shoe type of shoe and one pair o' boots. And I still have burkenstocks (Don't you dare laugh, I saw you!) a pair of slip-ons and a pair of semi-athletic tennies I mainly wear. That, and a pair of wing tip shiny things that go with the outsourcer / I'm-a-dick / sell-out-single-moms-and-pay-for-me-new-digs getup that I haven't worn in ten years and still resides in me garment bag. Maybe I'm too fat for it now. lol.
But I know what you all mean, lots of chicks have one pair of shoes per getup, er I mean 'outfit'. Its starting when they're teenagers and tell old dad they have nothing to wear, hoping he'll pawn off some money before mom comes in and straightens the whole thing out. Best thing ever, to put a stop to that particular teenaged drama is to teel her, "Well Baby, guess you're gonna have to go to school in your birthday suit then." They always seem to mysteriously find a set of clothes then, even if they did wear that a couple months ago or something. lol
Normally women have the most pairs because of color matching of outfits. Then you add the hiking boots, and what I call useful foot gear.
Me, I'm totally in to good foot gear, but don't own many pairs. A good pair of hiking boots, or athletic shoes on your feet when you've got a long walk, or it is cold and snowy outside are worth every peny you pay.
I currently am drooling over a pair of Asolo TPS520 boots. I have one other pair of this brand, and I tell ya, every peny was worth it.
I've got sandals, and dress shoes as well.
I have exactly...four pairs. Winter boots, running shoes, sandals, and high heels. Never been a shoe person. Anything else I borrow. lol .
Lets see here. I have two pairs of vans, one pair of converse, running shoes, sandals, boots, and three pairs of dress shoes. That's about it.
I have one pair of running shoes, two pairs of dress shoes for some reason...and that's it. I don't own winter boots anymore, and aside from slippers and socks, that's the only footgear I own.
you can have my shoes when you pry them out of my cold dead hands...
let's see
three pairs suede flats, one red, one leopard print, one black
one pair burgundy suede heels with a rosette, vastly uncomfortable and worn once, but they only cost me $6
one pair of mostly comfortable suede black heels with a T strap
two pairs athletic shoes, one for indoor and one for outdoor exercise a nike and a ryka
one pair easy spirit travel time slip on sneaks (my favorite wear any time I can shoes
one bair snow boots, knee height and faux fur lined, actually somewhat attractive considering they are purposeful boots
one pair boot/sneaker bought for winter travel that don't have the traction or warmth necessary
cream colored slingback heels
pleather lace up black ankle boots
sage green faux suede pumps
suede mules in black and brown, cute curvy heel
my trouser heels, black leather slides with stacked heel
black suede slip on boots that hit just under mid calf
dark green leather slide sandals
brown fabric twist strap slide sandals
black leather twist slide sandals
very old suede black lace up ankle boots that should really go but I love them so
some gold twist strap slide sandals with that tone heel thing that nearly kills me so I don't wear, but again, they were on sale for $6
very cute brown leather two strap heels
okay, all I can think of for now
You need a closet for these? Lol
Wayne's right about a really good expensive shoe. Last you a long time and be really good on your feet.
But, suede shoes? I always thought if suede got wet it was over. And, well, at least in Oregon, shoes get wet. Lol.
Price sometimes means quality, but I'm a shopper, so quality means best price for quality.
If you're in to boots, or don't see where you step and deal with wet, I've got the boots for you boys and girls!
Hate to advertise for big companies free of charge, so I'll just say Asolo. Lol.
Step in a puddle of water, ignore it, keep stepping. Feet are dry.
Looking good with your jeans too. Get the leather variety, and dress em up.
for the past few years, i've been buying cheeper shoos and replacing them as needed, but now, i'm actually really thinking about getting a quality pare of comfortable hiking boots, or some really decent running shoes.
At the moment, i've got one set of running shoos that need replacing badly, and one set of dress ones. that's it.
I used to wear cheap shoes but then worked in a shoe department for a while and had benefit of store discount and being able to grab things just as they went on sale. After wearing good shoes, it's difficult to go back to lousy ones that make my feet hurt.
Oh, that was also where I discovered my fondness for shoes. I only had maybe six or so pairs before that, exercise sneaks, regular boots, winter boots, everyday sneaks, couple of pumps and flats for dress.
I hate hate HATE buying shoes! My feet are STUPID tiny. As a teenager, shoes were made to accommodate tiny feet like mine... or perhaps sizing changed, I'm not sure what. But now, particularly in boots or dress shoes, it is IMPOSSIBLE to find shoes that are small enough to fit my feet! I can sometimes get away with kids boots, but kids' dress shoes don't fit (too rounded).
Shoe shopping is a NIGHTMARE!
That being said, I managed to get:
2 pair athletic shoes (one indoor, 1 outdoor)
Another pair of old court shoes now used for working out
1 pair dressy loafers (good for changing into, but very thin-soled - not good outside in this climate)
1 pair small wedge heels
1 pair fashion boots (wedge heel, knee-high)
1 pair winter boots
I think I have a pair of sandals somewhere, but they are wearing out and need replacing this year.

I where size 2 in kids and I have a hard time with shoes too. I have to get Nike's shoes that don't look like kids shoes but this is hard to do at times. I want so bad a pare of good shoes for winter but can't find any in my size that aren't made for kids. I want some, well a lot of shoes that I can where that say, I am 25 not between 2 and 5. but i can't find them. Any tips for small feet but growen up look?
I was really lucky once when I was looking for dress shoes. I was in Walmart and was frantically trying to find something nice that fit well, and was getting really frustrated (high heels were "in" and I HATE high heels). One of the employees saw me poking around and asked if she could help. Told her about my tiny feet, and she gave me this lieele laugh and said "I'm 411| and I have the same problem; Barbie shoes just don't do it for me!" I laughed so hard. We found every single pair of shoes I liked in a size 6, which is too big (usually, though I try them on in case...), and after 45 min we FINALLY found a pair in size 5. We were both so happy that we did a little happy dance in the aisle... I think I even hugged her.
My friend Amanda also has REALLY tiny feet also, and it takes a while, but I find that if you find short employees, they understand the frustration and are less likely to make comments about tiny feet, even if they can't find your particular shoe in the size you want.

I know a lot of girls with the same problem. It's beyond me why shoe companies haven't cottoned on to acomidating smaller sises. Saying that, I'm sure there are a few specialist sites out there that cater to smaller and larger sises. It's still not completely ideal though.
yeah, but who has the money to shop at specialty shops? Half the time it's the suppliers themselves who won't send them to Canada.
Kate
I hate hate high heals! That being said, I hats shopping for shoes because I have small feet! It's hard to find my size. They're either too big or too wide... ugh
Yo small feet. Especially you Kate, because you live in Canada where this dude lives too.

Okay, I'll tell you, these are not cheap, so shop the sale if the prices make you say hell no!
Beautiful shoes, comfortable, and you should be able to find your size.
If not, email, because these shoes are made per person unless you go get them at a Fluevog store, or Amazon.
I've got 2 pairs, because I've been refurbishing my clotheing of late and have decided to dress better.
Check them out, and tell me what you think.
Dolte, you've got a Fluevog store, and these are easily ordered for you that don't, even internationally.
I just about died looking at those prices! I have never spent so much on ANY clothing in...my...life!
Ah, but, but, but, when you buy a pair, you won't buy another for years and years. They can even be resoled.
The leather is just wonderful, and the feel good.
I do understand, and that was why I suggested shop the sale.
Offten times they'll be half priced, but still the same shoe.
I have about twenty pairs of shoes.
You need 11 more. That way you'll have a pair a day. Smile.
Sorry to say it, but for small people, your only real choice is to shop designer. I have the same problem in jeans. I have a small waist, and walmart caters to, lets be honest, the average American who is much bigger than me. I go to Sac's fifth avenue and find Armani jeans that fit perfectly. Twenty bucks at a tailor to get them hemmed, and I've never been more comfortable in jeans. The same is probably true for shoes.
Levi, Rangler, not the ones you buy in the store, but on the wrangler website. These are called cowboy cut, and are more built for people with smaller waist.
Up to waist size 36 they are in 1 inch measurements.
A new place called 20 Jeans has good pricing as well.
L L Bean, has good jeans.
I agree that special sizing or more percise sizing, is normally made by the better clotheing industry.
I get workers all the time telling me to get a size 5 it is almost just like a size 2. It kind of is, just half an inch to big. and half an inch makes the difference between walking and tripping.
As for my clothes, I sometimes have to shop in the juniour department. there is a tailer here that charges $7 for himming. I use it every time I get new pants. Its great and at the mall so while I wait, I shop more. LOL. I have the issues that I have to get pants that are short waisted, birzillian butt and a smaller waiste. This can be hard because a lot of pants don't really go more narrow at the waiste after widening for the hips. I hate having to use belts and have only recently figured the details of what style of pants to wear.
Growing up my clothes and shoes were always to big, didn't fit my shape or size and made me fill sloppy. I had to do a lot of googling and resurtching to find what to look for to work for my body style.
I wish I could have and there were, people you could go to that would tell you exactly what works. LOL! Just like Vitoria's with bras. And my family didn't care either way how i looked. But i do...
I guess I am fairly lucky. My parents cared about my appearance growing up, and to a degree, I do too. I like to dress up and look nice, but I also still like to look nice while dressing casually. My husband doesn't usually say anything unless I have tons of cat hair on my pants or something, but I tend to notice and get a little embarrassed if there's a stain on a shirt or whatnot.

I want to correct something.
All the brands I mentioned can be found in stores, and some have specific stores, just not in every city.
They are also sold at discount stores like Walmart, and such, and these are the places I say don’t go looking for them in.
JCP, Sears, The Gap, and the brands will have their own stores, like Levi.
Everything goes on sale, so if you shop right, you can have the same exact item for half that sticker.
It is one of the reasons after I know what I want, I like to find it online. I can afford to be patient, because I’m not going shopping all the time.
The better stores I’ve got them sending me emails when they have sales, so they tell me.
If I’m ready to buy when they have a sale, I get my wish list items for discount store prices.
Smaller women actually have it made, because the better clothiers cater to you. You just have to find your brands.
Nicky, I posted ideas about who you can go to.
